Brilliant that all the hard work, long hours and determination by all involved has been recognised.
RESULTS OF THE FIRST EVER IRISH FESTIVAL AWARDS!
The country has voted & here are the results of the first ever Irish Festival Awards!
For the first time ever in Ireland, music fans have voted for their favourite music festivals of 2007 online at www.irishfestivalawards.ie.
This unique website gave fans across the country a voice on what was hot this summer and the chance to give credit to the organisers where it was due. It also gave fans the chance to win VIP tickets to the boutique Castle Palooza festival, a surfing holiday & holistic massages.
2007 saw a huge increase in Irish music festivals and these awards bring the supersized and small festivals together with seventeen different voting categories.
Here are the results of the first ever Irish Festival Awards:
Best Large Festival: Electric Picnic Best Medium Festival: Bud Rising Best Small Festival sponsored by EQ Audio: Hard Working Class Heroes Best Dance Festival: Life Best Traditional Festival: Sligo Live Best New Festival: Cois Fharrige Best One Day Festival: Lovebox Best Lineup: Oxygen Best Rock Act: Arcade Fire Best Headline Act: Primal Scream Best Alternative Act: Final Fantasy Best Dance Act: The Chemical Brothers Best Irish Act: Snow Patrol Family Festival Award: Festival of World Cultures Best Service Award: Indie Pendence Social Responsibility Award: Hard Working Class Heroes Best Toilets: Flushing toilets!
There was no green festival in Ireland! Everyone does a little but not enough. Were putting it to the organizers to change their carbon footprint more in 2008! Thanks to all the votes during December & thanks to all the organisers for their festivals in 2007. Lets hope there's many more in 2008 & best of luck to the ones that get shortlisted for the 2008 Irish Festival Awards!
The Irish Festival Awards are brought to you by CherryCool Promotions, the people behind Castle Palooza and therefore we excluded ourselves from the voting process in the interest of fairness.
